Anyone else remember watching this show? It was the first cartoon on Saturday Mornings in the 1980’s on the local CBS affiliate in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. As I watch it now, it looks terrible.
I hope I didn’t make the title too confusing. Just watch this, it’s fun and surreal.
So, yeah, Adam Savage is the drowning guy in this video (about 2 minutes in).
This scene always cracked me up as a kid.
Look, I’m real, real sorry about this. The song was stuck in my head, and so I had to play it, and the rule is, if I play something on YouTube, then it ends up here too. Again, sorry, and I hope this doesn’t get stuck in your head too.
Having grown up on HBO, I watched Emmet Otter pretty much every Christmas season in the 1980’s. I just rewatched it with my wife…and the mom’s music didn’t age well at all. Everybody else (even the bad guys) are fun to watch, but his mom, well, it’s like listening to bad female singers in church, who feel the need to add a ton of flourish to music that just doesn’t require any.
That being said, the outtakes go to show how much work they put into the muppetry. Tedium doesn’t seem to describe it.
This is a mashup of Iron Maiden’s “The Trooper” and the Monkee’s “I’m a Believer”. It sorta works too.
Yes, that’s Eriq LaSalle from ER, Kadeem Hardison from A Different World, and Mario Van Peebles, the director of New Jack City, also an actor from all sorts of projects like the movie Ali and the TV show…..All My Children?! Somebody get this guy some real work! Quick!
(Special thanks to IMDB for writing 1/2 of this post for me.)
This was originally done for The Goonies soundtrack. Since a subplot concerning a giant octopus was dropped from the film, this song was also dropped.
Vladimir Putin met Ronald Reagan when ol’ Dutch visited Moscow in the 1980’s. However, Putin was still a member of the KGB, and he was incognito as a tourist dad with his ‘son’ in tow. Putin is the man on the left, with a camera around his neck. Pretty sneaky Mrs. Estherhouse.
