The I.T. Crowd – US pilot vs UK pilot
I wish this had made it as a series in the USA, if only to have more episodes with the same great characters. But then Community would be different without Joel, so I’m torn.

LeVar Burton Explains How Not to Get Shot By Police in a Traffic Stop
This makes me very sad, but it’s better that he be honest and forthright about this (and maybe save some innocent lives). More info here: http://www.opposingviews.com/i/celebrities/levar-burton-explains-how-he-avoids-being-shot-police-being-black-video

USA! USA!
This hit me in Junior High, when I first really learned the details of the crossing of the Delaware. Since no one else really said anything, I kind of glossed over it at the time. But seriously, isn’t that just the biggest dick move in war? Attacking on the holiest of holidays? I know in other parts of the Christian world, Easter is actually holier than Christmas…but still, even the SECOND Holiest Holiday, and you pull a sneak attack? Sure, there wouldn’t be a USA if it wasn’t for this ultimate dickmove…but did that make it right?

Top 100 Cities In The US (by population)
Whats kind of cool is my hometown of Sioux Falls, SD would make this list if you included its metro area. It might make it within 50 years, who knows.

How I Felt in New York City This Past Weekend
I just got back from a well-needed vacation in New York City this past weekend. There are several things I observed. First, it’s much smaller in-person, since almost every shot of New York streets have a view of the tall skyscrapers, but in-person you’re simply walking at street-level. Even Times Square was smaller in-person. Second, the service industry did a pretty good job of making us “effing tourists” feel at home. Pretty much everyone was really friendly. And Third: New York is the World Cup of People Watching. Normally, even on the streets of Washington DC, I can spot an interesting or unusual person every few blocks. In New York, it’s every few feet. You have 1980’s-Slutty-Girl, Overly Hip Asian fellow, Greaser from the 1950’s, Stereotypical Jersey Guy/Girl, Baby Boomer College Professor Walking His Medium-Sized Dog Everywhere, Bicycle Courier Yelling Profanity At Taxi’s, Annoying Effing Tourists With a Diminished Sense of Direction (or “Get out of the EFFING WAY!”), Stereotypical Asian Tour Group (in Suits) with Cameras Attached to their Faces, White Guy Supporting an Impressive Afro, Regular Looking Dude Wearing a Skirt (not a Kilt) Instead of Pants, and so on. That could have been within the span of four blocks. I mean, the list goes on and on, it’s so much fun. I should note that I’m not judging, since everyone is a genius, and everyone is an idiot, all with our role to play in the world. I’m simply amazed with the different types of people all crammed into one tiny island in the world. It’s just so impressive, and actually makes the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and Times Square secondary as a result. New York City (especially now, in the off-season) is great, and I highly recommend the trip. Just get a hotel in New Jersey and take the ferry across, you’ll save some $$.
